Our style + approach

Your love is a work of art

we are here to show you

So often we hear our clients say that they aren't photogenic or candid. But, you don't get to see yourself when your eyes light up as you look at your lover or when you laugh from your belly and toss your head back laughing. You don't see yourself in the moments when you are the most vulnerable and candid.

THAT IS WHERE WE COME IN

You aren't only hiring us to take and edit your photos. You are hiring us because we know how to pose, prompt and bring out your personalities on camera in a way that is authentic to you and your story.

REMEMBER, THIS IS WHERE REAL LOVE MEETS ART

You handle the love and we will handle the art.

how do we do it?

Our signature style

We have said it once, and we will say it again: we do things a bit differently.

Our galleries are known for being effortlessly elegant while also remaining candid, authentic, and not overly constructed or posed.

We achieve our aesthetic by combining traditional and modern styles of photography while incorporating three core elements.

1. candids

What is a candid shot?

Candid shots are the very core of our galleries. They are the moments that you didn't get to see with your own eyes and the key to emotions that you want to relive over and over again.

How is a candid shot achieved?

A candid shot is an image of you in the moment with little instruction or interruption from us. It's us photographing the day as it is, with all of its beautiful moments and stunning details. This includes the people you love, the details you invested in and the moments you couldn't be in two places at once for.

2. creatives

What is a creative shot?

We like to think of creative shots as the cherries on top of the cake. They are the images that make you feel like a total rockstar and realize how great you really are in front of the camera.

How is a creative shot achieved?

To achieve a creative shot, we use unique & fun prompts to get you to interact with each other. At the same time, we compose the image with artistic angles and settings. Creative shots are a ton of fun, and the best part is that you will never know you were "posing" for us the whole time!

3. portraits

What is a portrait shot?

Portrait shots are the pause button. They allow us to capture and preserve those who we love most. We know that we are living in the age of Instagram and many people place importance on candid and creative shots, but we strongly believe that portraits are also incredibly important.

HOW IS A portrait SHOT ACHIEVED?

We know that family portraits can sometimes be stressful. Organizing your family and friends on your wedding day and taking images for an hour (or more) can be overwhelming. That is why we have created a system where family portraits are easy, organized and quick. With our approach to family portraits, you get memories for a lifetime without having to spend a lifetime taking the photos. We will discuss this process in depth at your first consultation call.

Love Notes

Jessica + dERRICK

“Taylor and Yvonne were so easy to work with on our wedding day and were immediately very warm. They managed to capture so many special candid moments and even had our Polaroid out taking some extra shots for us! Would highly recommend them and would definitely work with them again. Savannah is also quick to respond to emails and has been so great to communicate with. We couldn’t be happier!!”

have more questions about the experience?

I'm not confident infront of the camera, help!

Something we hear our clients all the time is that they “can’t pose like the people they see on our website” or that “they are not candid”.

Well, we want to bust that myth! The reason you hire a professional photographer isn’t only to have them take & edit the photo. You hire a professional because they know not only how to pose/prompt you, but how to bring out your personalities on camera and showcase your love in a way that is authentic to you.

We will never ask you to stand still, smile and pose. We use prompts to get what we need from you and to ignite that spark on camera! By the end of the shoot, you won’t have even realized that you were posing for us the whole time.

We have seen it all! From couples who are shy and nervous in front of the camera to couples who are super out-going and love the spotlight... and guess what!? The end result has ALWAYS been the same: your love told in photographs in a way that is magical yet authentic to you. If you looked at our page you would never guess who was shy and who wasn’t!

This is why we say this is where real love meets art. You handle the love part and we will handle the art!

We promise you not only amazing photos, but an amazing time while taking them!

How would you describe your aesthetic?

We've been trying to nail this question for a long time! Our galleries are warm but not too warm, and sometimes cool but not too cool... I guess we play around a lot with authentic and neutral tones. But, if the sunset is glowing then we take advantage of that and if blue hour is at its peak, then we take advantage of that too!

I guess to put it simply, our aesthetic is 'real'. We always want the image to reflect the moment. So, if you can feel the warm sunset on your cheek while you take the photo, we want you to see that in the final image! If you can feel the cool wind in your hair while you take the photo, we want you to see that in the final image too!

When it comes to aesthetic, our sole job is to make sure how you felt in the moment is artistically mirrored in your final gallery.

Can I send you my inspiration?

Yes! Yes! Yes!

Although we have a signature style and workflow, we think of each session and wedding as a collaboration. If you have ideas, please say something! Each couple is unique in their own way, and when you get to have a hand in the creative process, it makes it so much more special!

Where are you based and do you travel?

Ottawa, Ontario! However, we travel far beyond Ottawa! :) If you are planning to get married somewhere far, far away, please let us know in your inquiry!

When will we get our photos?

For Engagements + Portraits:
2 weeks or less.

For Weddings:
4-6 weeks.

What happens if it rains?

For engagement sessions (and sessions alike) we will reschedule to the closest available day for the both of us (unless you want to shoot in the rain and the weather is safe).

For weddings, just remember that overcast lighting creates the most beautiful images. Next to a sunset glow, overcast days create the softest, most flattering light! We as photographers actually love a bit of a cloudy day!

Our gear is water resistant and we will work around the rain as best as we can.

What should I wear?

Once you have booked, we will send you a copy of our Style Guide! So don't worry, we got you!
